Just a short distance by jet boat, the USFS has established an observatory specifically for bear viewing at Anan Creek. Bears congregate at Anan Creek naturally for feeding. See black bears and brown bears feeding on the massive run of pink salmon.
We can get you to this truly unique area. Watch the beaches for deer, moose and bear and the water for humpback whales, sea otter, harbor seals or stellar sea lions during our trip to Anan.
What To Expect
Anan-Tour Length is 5 hours. We depart from Wrangell for a 1 hour boat ride to the observatory down the Eastern Passage, known as The Back Channel to locals. Upon arrival, there is a 1/2 mile walk on a trail to the observatory, where we will spend approximately 3 hours viewing the bears. Food is NOT allowed on shore, but you are welcome to bring a lunch or a snack to leave on the boat.
