Zack Taylor, owner/operator and Wrangell native was just the perfect captain for our trip up the river to the glacier. The “Frago” was the boat of choice for just two couples. Because of the smaller size, we were able to access areas the bigger boats can’t go. Read full testimonial.

Experience a Truly Unique Corner of the World on this Alaska Boat Tour
Join us as we travel up the stunning Stikine through small side channels of the river known as ‘sloughs’ to reach the river’s many destinations. The headwaters of the Stikine River is in British Columbia and flows 400 miles to saltwater near Wrangell, Alaska, the “Gateway to the Stikine”. Named by the Tlingit Indians, Stikine River means “Great River” and a tour exploring the best it has to offer is not to be missed. Shakes Glacier is the feature of this tour, at the far end of a massive glacier lake that it resides in. Depending on river height, enjoy a soak in the Chief Shakes hot springs, located just upstream of the glacier.
Why Take This Tour?
Between wildflowers on the river’s delta and the looming Shakes Glacier, taking in this impressive landscape from the views on our boat is a truly unforgettable experience
We’ll have the opportunity to witness the largest springtime population of bald eagles, millions of migrating waterfowl and more
To top it all of, depending on the river’s water levels, we’ll stop at the Chief Shakes Hot Springs for a relaxing soak after visiting the glacier

Previous Guests Rave About Muddy Water Adventures
GO WITH ZACH. I have been up the Stikine River several times but this trip with Zach of Muddy Water Adventures was a much deeper look into the Stikine. The trip never felt rushed and Zach took time to do things like break through the ice (with the boat) on our way to the Shakes Glacier. Read full testimonial.
Zach is such a GREAT guide and boat operator – especially with all the sand bars the Stikine River has. He knows the history and current events of the area so was able to answer all our questions. The scenery is spectacular! Read full testimonial.
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our travel up the Stikine river with Zach Taylor and his covered jet boat. The Stikine is a huge river with unusual scenery including wildlife, waterfalls, forests and a glacier with icebergs that were deep blue islands all around us. Read full testimonial.
